Rep. Swanson to host ‘Readers Make Leaders’ family literacy event this Saturday

WOODHULL – State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) and Birth to Five Illinois will be hosting a ‘Readers Make Leaders’ family literacy event this Saturday.

“Teaching a child to read is one of the greatest gifts you can give,” Swanson said. “Literacy opens so many doors and so many opportunities for our children and grandchildren.”

Swanson and Birth to Five Illinois will be hosting a family-friendly literacy event at Swanson’s district office, located at 275 N. Division Street in Woodhull from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free of charge and there is no need to RSVP. It will feature kids crafts, books, games, activities and refreshments. Saturday’s event is intended to be the first in a series of such family literacy events around the 71st District.

“I would also like to thank our partner agencies for their support: Abilities Plus Child Care Resource and Referral, Clover Library, Early Head Start and the Regional Office of Education,” Swanson added.

71st District residents can find more news about the General Assembly and information about upcoming events on Rep. Swanson’s legislative website at repswanson.com.
