State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) recently displayed a photo book belonging to his grandfather, who was a page in the Illinois State Senate over 100 years ago.
Swanson’s grandfather spent time at the Capitol, met legislators, and participated in events like the dedication of Lincoln’s New Salem state park north of Springfield.
“It’s fascinating to go through the history book that we discovered and to think that he was in many of the same rooms and walls and buildings that I’ve been a part of these past eight years,” Swanson said.
