A busy Veterans Day

I started out talking on WGIL about the 12 African American soldiers from Galesburg who fought with the 54th Massachusetts Regiment in the Civil War.

Afterwards I traveled to Sherrard High School for an awesome ceremony recognizing a huge crowd of veterans and families.

After the ceremony, I presented 23 Illinois House of Representatives certificates to veterans and an Illinois flag flown over the Capitol complex to the oldest veteran at the Knox County Nursing home. I then stopped at the Knoxville American Legion for a bowl of chili soup and cornbread.

I then went to Hawthorne to present two House of Representatives certificates and an Illinois flag flown over the Capitol Complex.
