State Representative Dan Swanson announced he has received word that he will also be appointed to the House Agriculture & Conservation Committee in addition to the five committees announced earlier in the week.
“I was very happy to have received the call from Leader Durkin to let me know I had been chosen to help represent our caucus on the Agriculture & Conservation Committee. As a fifth-generation family farmer, and representing an area of the state known as the Hog Capitol of the World (Kewanee) and containing some of the very best farmland in Illinois, I look forward to applying those skills and knowledge on this important committee,” said Swanson. “My father, brother and I still operate our family farm near Andover where we harvest corn, beans, oats, wheat and hay crops as well as operate a cow/calf operation, cattle feedlot and raise pigs.”
“There are many difficult issues confronting our agricultural economy in Illinois. Having legislators with first-hand knowledge on family farming will be important as we move forward as a State. I look forward to that work and applying my common-sense and agricultural knowledge gleaned over generations,” continued Swanson.
Rep. Swanson announced on Monday that he was appointed to the Public Safety Appropriations Committee, the Fire & Emergency Services Committee, the Elementary & Secondary Education: Curriculum and Policies Committee, the new Special Committee on Police & First Responders and the new Special Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
