State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) presented Senate Joint Resolution 50 in the Illinois House, declaring May 1, 2024, as “Illinois Bacon Day.”
A fifth-generation family farmer from Henry County, Swanson is the only pork producer in the Illinois General Assembly. In his remarks he summarized the importance of bacon to the Illinois economy. The resolution was adopted.
