Busy day in the district

It was a busy day! We started out cooking serving breakfast at Camp Summit to quad city area 70 Jr High girls and counselors from Youth Hope. I made a few Mickey Mouse pancakes, which were a big hit, and close to 250 total cakes.

Afterwards I attended a Police/Fire/EMT/VIP appreciation coffee and donuts lunch at Heritage Woods, Moline. The theme this week at Heritage Woods is kindness and it was truly kind of the residents to host such a kind coffee.

I then went home and finished combining wheat. It was relaxing to get in the combine for a couple of hours. The wheat was standing well, so harvest went well. Sometimes with the storms and wind like in recent days it can cause the wheat to lay flat, making harvest difficult.

In the evening I attended the Knox County 4-H livestock auction. Bidders were very willing to reward the 4-H members by their generosity. I bought Logan Yeutson’s 3 meat hens.

Congratulations to all the local 4-H exhibitors and leaders for a great show. And to the Knox County fair board for such wonderful facilities supporting our local youth.
